Amy Nylund

Birth Doula - Albany, NY

Amy Nylund is a licensed clinical social worker and DONA-trained birth doula serving families in New York’s Capital Region. She brings a rare combination of clinical insight, deep curiosity, and genuine humility to her work with birthing families—listening first, asking thoughtful questions, and offering support that honors each family’s values, choices, and lived experience.

Rooted in trauma-informed care, Amy blends evidence-based information with a calm, grounding presence. Her approach is shaped by years of professional practice, ongoing mentorship, and a lifelong immersion in academic and healthcare spaces. Yet what truly sets Amy apart is her learner’s mindset: she remains open, attentive, and responsive, never assuming she knows what a family needs before hearing their story.

Amy offers guidance with clarity and care, drawing from both her academic training and real-world experience—while holding space for families to disagree, question, or choose a different path. Her ego never leads the room; respect and collaboration do. Families often describe feeling deeply heard and supported, rather than directed or managed.

Currently expecting her own baby, Amy is thoughtfully integrating her personal transition into parenthood with her professional growth as a doula. This season has deepened her appreciation for the complexity, vulnerability, and strength inherent in pregnancy and birth—and further grounded her commitment to informed, compassionate support.

Amy’s work reflects a broader truth about doula care: it is far more than comfort alone. It requires knowledge, discernment, adaptability, and presence—and Amy embodies all of these with quiet confidence and care.
