🌿 Doula Training Partial Scholarship

Support for community-based birth workers.

Each quarter, BirthPro sets aside four scholarship seats: two full and two partial.

This page walks you through how they work, who they’re for, and what to do if a scholarship seat isn’t available this round.

How Our Scholarships Work

BirthPro's Full-Spectrum Doula Training prepares birth workers to support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, with a foundation in physiology, emotional support, advocacy, and trauma-aware care.

We award two types of scholarships:

  • Full scholarship — Tuition is covered. The only cost is a $100 admin fee, the one piece we ask every full-scholarship recipient to contribute so this program can keep running cohort after cohort.

  • Partial scholarship — 50% off tuition. No admin fee. No other cost beyond your discounted tuition.

If you’re able to self-pay, or want to use the 6-month payment plan ($150/month), you’re welcome to register directly through the main training page. Scholarship seats are reserved for birth workers who need financial support to access training.

How We Award Scholarships

We review applications on a rolling basis, not in quarterly batches, so you don't have to wait for a deadline to apply or hear back. BirthPro awards up to 8 scholarship seats a year, across both full and partial scholarships.

Every application gets a real read. We look at your goals, your community, and the priorities below, and make a decision case by case, so you don't need to check every box to be considered.

Typical turnaround: approximately 10 days from a complete application.

Accepting your offer: once you're awarded a scholarship, you'll have one week to accept. Training is self-paced, so there's no cohort start date to plan around, we just ask for a quick yes so we can offer the seat to someone else if you're not ready to begin.

One Cost to Know About

Scholarships cover tuition. They don't cover CPR certification, which is required for training and priced separately through whichever provider you choose. Budget for that on your own before you start.

Who Scholarships Prioritize

Every applicant is welcome to apply. Priority consideration goes to those who:

  • Plan to serve Medicaid or publicly insured families

  • Live or work in an area with limited access to birth support

  • Identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or another underrepresented community in birth work

  • Are veterans, active-duty military, or military spouses

  • Are experiencing financial hardship that limits access to training

You don’t need to meet every point above to apply. Partial scholarships and reduced tuition are considered based on cohort capacity and individual circumstances.

If a Scholarship Seat Isn’t Available

Only eight full scholarship & eight partial scholarship seats open annually, so not every applicant will receive one. If that happens, you’ll hear directly from us, and we’ll point you toward the 6-month payment plan ($150/month) so training is still within reach. Your application also helps us understand demand and plan how many seats to offer going forward.

Time Commitment

Before applying, make sure this training fits your schedule. The program includes:

  • Core trainings, watch anytime via recording, at your own pace

  • Monday night mentoring calls, 8:00–8:30pm ET, required for the full length of your training, this is where the live component of this program happens (we can go slightly over time with lively discussions)

  • Offline coursework, about 3 hours a week

  • Births and postpartum shifts, hours vary by pathway

Attendance matters. Since Monday calls are the live piece of this training, we ask for real consistency: attend at least 8 sessions, with no more than 2 missed in a row. If you fall short, you'll have a chance to catch up, watch the recording and submit a short reflection, before your certification is finalized.

This is a hands-on program that asks for real time and real presence. Knowing what you’re signing up for is part of setting you up to succeed. 💙 🌱
